Winter is hygge season - or not
2/6/2017
Hygge (hoo-guh), according to Erica Wacker at www.exploreminnesota.com , is a trending Scandinavian tradition embracing the "coziness, comradery and contentment" of Minnesota winters, from hot cocoa to snowshoeing to dog sledding and star gazing. Minnesota's many Scandinavian descendants enjoy the varied activities of winter festivals, so much so, that Cook County's Lake Superior shoreline communities around Grand Marais will host the inaugural Hygge Week February 9-15 (for more information go to www.exploreminnesota.com/travel-ideas/winter-is-hygge-season-in-minneso…).
However, if you are otherwise inclined, and, by now, are hankering for an indoor alternative of the cerebral variety, then look no further than your local community theatre. Faribault's own Paradise Community Theatre will perform the Ken Ludwig comedy Baskerville: A Sherlock Holmes Mystery on February 10-18. See www.paradisecenterforthearts.org/theatre/ for show times and ticket information and www.kenludwig.com for play reviews. If psychological thrillers have greater appeal, then investigate the Northfield Arts Guild production of Dial M for Murder slated for February 17-26. You are invited to attend the opening night reception or the First Sunday Post Show discussions.
