Getting ready for Winter
Are you ready for snow and freezing temperatures? If you've been putting off seasonal maintenance of your home because daily temps have been too good to waste on the mundane, delay no further. It is time to follow the guidelines compiled by Reuben Salzman in his "Fall Maintenance" checklist. Yes, it is time to disconnect garden hoses and tend to any exterior faucets, pond pumps, and sprinklers. Those inside and outside vents and ducts need cleaning, de-clogging, ridding of lint, dust, and leaves, and nests. Schedule your annual furnace tune-up. Don't forget to clean the fireplace flues and, speaking of fires, check your smoke and CO alarms. The kind you use may save lives. Be prepared and enjoy the winter months from inside a warm and safe home.
