Save the date—summer VBS is coming!

Sunshine and shorts are upon us.  School will soon be a faint memory, all of that mental rigor overtaken by physical summer sports vigor.  Exercising the mind and the body are both important for good health but do not neglect exercising the most important muscle of all—your heart.  Cultivating and challenging faith and values is a daily necessity and now is the ideal time to make a little space in your summer schedule for family participation in vacation Bible school (VBS).  Local churches are offering different programs in June, July, and August for elementary school-aged children to attend and for everyone else to lend a hand as helper or leader.  Check out these Northfield options.

Four local churches will once again join forces, this year located at Emmaus Baptist Church, to host a VBS June 11-14 from 9:00 am to 11:30 am.  Children ages 3 to those who just completed grade 2 are invited to attend along with those from sponsoring churches St. John’s Lutheran, St. Peter’s Lutheran, Bethel Lutheran, and Emmaus Baptist Church.  For information, directions, and registering children or volunteers online, go here.  This year, children are invited to go on an action-packed adventure called “Rolling River Rampage and experience the ride of a lifetime with God!”  Being a disciple of Jesus is an every-day adventure requiring us to trust him when experiences of life get rough and scary.  Bible stories, crafts, science experiments, songs, activities—all help children to learn how to roll down the river of life.

St. Dominic’s Catholic Church will host a five-day Vacation Bible Camp in August.  Check their website for more information coming soon.  For children, teens, and families, explore other summer options such as camps and yearly mission trips at area churches.
