What is a Walk Score?

More than a decade ago, which seems like several lifetimes in the technology world, Walk Score was added to Edina Realty listings online. What is a Walk Score, you ask? 

As you might have guessed, it has nothing to do with baseball, though I always like it when my team scores a run on a walk, rather it rates a home on a scale of 0 to 100 depending on the walkability of the home’s neighborhood. Live Where You Love is Walk Score's motto, and now they also have a rating for how accessible your home is by bicycle. 

This is becoming more and more important as places like the City of Northfield are making accessibility in all forms vital to redevelopment plans. Northfield has several sites at various phases of development in 2023 including the Archer House site, the Municipal Liquor Store, and several points along the river.
